I’m not sure if this stuff is doggie gourmet or if it’s sprinkled with magic, but it definitely gets her eating again. I use it about every 3 days, and it’s like a culinary rescue mission. If your dog’s a picky eater or has tummy troubles, this powder might just be the dinner-time superhero you need!
The runs stopped soon thereafter, and when I stopped the supplement she went right back to having loose stools. When I discovered that the vet had charged me roughly 4 times what it actually cost here I was relieved that I would be able to afford it in the long run.
If your dog has issues with soft or runny poop I would totally recommend giving this a try.
I've been using FortiFlora for my dog for a few months now, and it has made a noticeable difference in his overall health. He used to have frequent digestive issues, but since starting FortiFlora, his stomach has been much more settled, and his stool quality has improved significantly. He also seems to have more energy and a shinier coat, which I attribute to the improved gut health.
The powder is easy to mix with his food, and he doesn't seem to notice the difference in taste, which is great because he's usually picky. I've tried other probiotics in the past, but FortiFlora has been the most effective by far.
One downside is the price—it’s a bit on the expensive side, but considering the positive changes in my dog's health, I think it’s worth it. If your pet has digestive issues or you're just looking to boost their gut health, I highly recommend giving FortiFlora a try.
we mix it with her wet food and she eats it with no problem.
UPDATE- I reached out to the manufacturer directly and they shipped me a new box. I was also told that as part of the packaging process, the boxes are weighed and if they don’t meet the weight guidelines - extra packets are added to the box.
It contains live active cultures and a specialized strain of probiotics that are specifically formulated for dogs. Knowing that I'm giving my pup a product developed by experts gives me peace of mind. Another aspect of this supplement that I appreciate is its convenience. The individual packets make it easy to administer the right dosage, and the powder mixes seamlessly with my dog's food. There's no mess or fuss, which is a huge plus in my book.
Pros:
-It's in a plastic bottle which my Dutch Shepherd won't eat.
-Pills can still be crushed for powder effect.
-Dogs don't seem to have issue eating pills in pill form so no need to sneak it into my Purina Pro Plan beef and rice.
Cons:
-NO SERVING SUGGESTIONS, I assume 1 pill, but that doesn't seem right since again, I'd assume 1 pill would be overkill for a toy breed, and 1 pill isn't totally suitable for my Foxhound/Catahoula (70lbs) or my Dutch/Mal/Lab mix (65lbs). So wished there was a bit of advice on the bottle with serving suggestions. Even my vitamins from Top Paw are like 3 chewables for the weight rang you specified.
Conclusion:
I buy them since my doctor says to, and I have noticed with my girl if she's getting yeastie down there, that after reintroducing her to these, that in about a week's time, she no longer has a yeast problem. So, at least with here there's clear benefits, but something like Trapper the foxhound, MAYBE... Hard to say, since he doesn't have to really worry about feeling "not so fresh". So, it's more of a placebo thing with him. While I just did the math, technically the Sachets are cheaper, I do like the convenience of the pills. Since I used to worry if I was getting enough of the powder out, and stuff like that.
When he is having a bout of the nasties, I just sprinkle this over his food for a day or two and pretty soon he's back to normal. I think it's especially useful to take along when we travel and different water and the general stress of travel can cause an upset tummy. My other dog's stomach isn't as sensitive but he will eat it on his food too (and he's a very fussy eater).
Update: 6/20/2013 - Our groomer recommended a different product to us - Pro Bios - which can be used with a variety of farm animals plus dogs, cats, birds and reptiles and other pets. We have been feeding it to our dogs - 1 tsp a day (measure comes in the container) and they seem to like it OK and it has really cut down on their gas and seems to be helping the dog that has the easily upset tummy. It's quite a bit cheaper than Forti-Flora - $14.59 for a 240 gram container. It comes in a larger size too. So far, we're very happy with this new product.
