Every time I gave it to the dogs, I had unpleasant experience smelling that food, and our entire kitchen didn’t smell good with dog’s food in it.
Not anymore, this is the first high rated good quality dog’s food which smells acceptable. Thanks to the manufacturer of it!
My dog is older, so, yeah to Hill's Science Diet.
Now that they’re fully transitioned, I’m finding they like it better than their previous Science Diet formula.
One of my goldens is a very picky eater and I’m not having to coax him to eat now.
I went back to Science Diet and this is the only type she shows interest in and it’s never caused any tummy issues. She’s seven now and she eats a little better now, but I sprinkle a bit of boiled chicken on her food at night.
PROS:
- Auto-delivery is the best! Fast delivery right to my door and I pick how often I want it. It’s so convenient because it’s out of stock in the stores a lot.
- I’ve never tasted it myself, so I can’t vouch for the flavor. My picky dog does eat it.
- The cost isn’t bad since I have a small dog that doesn’t eat much. It is somewhat expensive, but so is everything else.
- The resealable bag is nice.
CONS:
- My dog would be the one to talk to.
Both dogs eat it and so far, our KD dog is doing well on it.
And my cat tries to steal the dog's food.
Then I thought his food might be part of the problem. I read the reviews for many of Amazon’s dog food and picked this one!
It came yesterday. I put it in his dish and immediately he started eating. He kept on for awhile.
When I gave him his wet food tonight, he ate half of it and then headed straight back to his dry food!
I don’t like the price, but I LOVE how happy it makes my dog!
People may think that they're just dogs, and they'll eat anything. Why buy a fancy science tested dog food? Because just like any mammal, what they eat determines their overall health, and it affects their quality of life, ESPECIALLY as they get older. I notice a difference in them when I have had to buy the cheaper stuff bc I ran out and forgot to order THIS. The other stuff even SMELLS like processed chemicals, it's no wonder it makes them gassy. Hill"s Science Diet smells like food, even to me. It smells better than the food they have eaten in the past . Heck, it smells better than some of the food I have eaten before.
Let your dogs try it for like 30 days, then TRY to feed your dog their old stuff. Seriously, after ONE meal of this stuff, my dogs turned up their noses at their old food that my bf tried to feed them the next day. Let your dogs decide. 10 will get you 20 that they will want the Science Diet food.
I like to buy several bags of dry dog food at once, but different flavours, to see which my dogs like best and to provide them variety. I regularly give them sensitive stomach, large breed and some of the other varieties, including this Chicken Meal, Barley and Brown Rice recipe. Two of my three dogs really like this, choosing it over some of the other Science Diet dry foods, and the third is fine with it but prefers some of the other flavours a bit more. Or at least that's my anthropomorphizing what I think they prefer! Rhe ingredient list is excellent, and the quality is consistently high. For me, as long as the quality is there, then my dogs will continue to enjoy Hill's Science Diet!
The dogs liked it just fine. No problems there.
It's pretty hard to find dog food that's sourced in US, but hopefully the brand will stay responsible with their sources.
While this stuff is decent now, please remember to check ingredients every few months. It's very common for pet food makers to change ingredients after they get people used to buying their product.

We haven’t noticed any changes with the dogs, but one did put on 2 lbs.
The ingredients include a lot of grains but no obvious fillers like cellulose although it seems some ingredients such as the fruits and vegetables that are at the bottom of the list below the vitamins and minerals, i.e., in minute quantities, are there just for the sake of being able to include them in the ingredient list as opposed to actually being functional or even detectable, sort of like dog food homeopathy. It's also not clear what makes this food more appropriate for older dogs.
Why doesn't the manufacturer provide more information about how the food is (supposedly) formulated to meet specific needs as opposed to other varieties and list the actual percentage of each ingredient? People want to know exactly what they're feeding their furbabies!
I love that Gizmo loves his dog food and I don't have to make chicken every night of my life for him! It's been great for his stomach and he has had no ill side effects.
A win-win in our house.
However, this food is more affordable than many and still, despite the grains, better than the really cheap grocery store brands. This company has had recalls over the years, the most recent that I'm aware of being for canned food. So you need to keep an eye on recalls for all dog foods you choose to feed your dogs. Even some with very good reputations have recalls. My dog likes this, but he is not too picky about what shows up in his bowl and breakfast and dinner. This is a good choice if you are on a budget but still want to feed your dog something reasonably good.
I could try to wax poetic about the ingredients, but I don't know much about that stuff. I don't like that they won't say where the ingredients are from, though, so one star off. Ivory's main food is sourced from and made in the USA, and I prefer that.
It seems like a good quality food, and Ivory likes it. I'll take the win, but I do wish that they'd be more transparent about where they get their ingredients.
This food is formulated for your grown dog's specific aging needs. A great source of high-quality protein for lean muscle, this dog food made with natural ingredients is easy to digest, and creates a synergistic blend that helps support adult canine energy & activity levels.
My dogs loved this and it’s been a few days since they have been eating this. Will see after a month how

Overall Impression:
Good quality, brand name nutrition for your precious canine family.
After a week, his pain was gone. By his next check up, he lost 5lb!
Highly recommended for old (and coffee table) dogs!
Hill's Science Diet Mature does just that! He seems to very happy with it and hasn't been gaining any extra weight. He is now 8 years old and is doing wonderful since switching to this brand. I would recommend this to anyone who has a dog that digestive problems or need to watch their weight.
