A gradual transition to a new pet food is important to avoid digestive upset. To transition, mix your pet’s current food with the new food. Over 7 days, gradually decrease the amount of the current pet food while increasing the amount of new pet food.

This works especially good for sensitive skin and a sensitive stomach.
I don't know why you ask humans how the taste is on these products unless some actually eat the stuff but I have no idea how to answer some of these ridiculous questions,
For reference both dogs mentioned are about 7lbs and get a total of 1/4 cup of the Hills sensitive stomach kibble each day per dog. We divide the 1/4 cup per dog into 1/8 cup (2 tablespoons) twice a day covered in warm water. The package is so small we keep it in a cereal storage container to keep it fresh.
What distinguishes this food is its carefully formulated formula. Packed with premium-quality ingredients that meet their dietary requirements perfectly, every bite provides essential nutrition to promote overall health, immunity and coat lustre in dogs.
Hill's Science Diet's commitment to science-backed nutrition is admirable. I take comfort knowing my furry companion is receiving an optimal, scientific diet designed by experts in pet nutrition.
Since switching to this dog food, my pup's overall well-being has experienced remarkable enhancement. Their energy levels remain sustained all day long and their digestion runs smoothly and regularly - their coat now glistens with vitality!
I've been delighted by the incredible effect this dog food has had on my dog's weight management. With the optimal combination of nutrients and portion control, they maintain healthy weight while decreasing risk associated with obesity-related health problems.
My dog absolutely adores these delicious kibble treats, making each meal enjoyable and convenient to chew. Additionally, its resealable packaging ensures freshness and quality over time.

The dog came with a history of some skin issues and stomach sensitivity. Nothing life threatening but kind of in the "it is what it is" category.
After one bout with some skin rashes resulting in a $500 vet bill; special shampoo; topical spray and antibiotics...all which did help...we decided to be more proactive and look at prevention vs reaction going forward.
Saw this product; liked what we read about it and the reviews; bought it and WHAT AN AMAZING CHANGE AND IMPROVEMENT!
We have a short hair dog who is hairless on his belly...that area is now a healthy pink/white color.
All areas which previously indicated the potential for developing into a "vet visit" have cleared up and disappeared after his eating this food for a month.🙏
In human terms it is like a change in diet and someone's acne went away!
Coat is softer and thicker.
Stool is consistently firm.
We cannot tell he has a history of any the skin / stomach issues compared to when we got him 6 months ago.
Highly recommend and by far much much less expensive than a visit to the veternarian! Plus our dog is so much more comfortable and happy!
The chicken recipe is a tasty and nutritious source of protein that dogs will love, and the formula is enriched with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support their overall health and wellbeing. The high-quality ingredients ensure that the food is easily digestible, which is essential for dogs with sensitive stomachs.
One of the things I love about this dog food is that it is free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. This means that you can feel confident that you're feeding your dog a natural and wholesome diet that is free from any harmful additives.
The 30-pound bag is also incredibly convenient, making it a cost-effective choice for pet owners. The food stays fresh for an extended period, so you don't have to worry about it going stale or losing its nutritional value over time.
In summary, Hill's Science Diet Dry Dog Food, Adult, Sensitive Stomach & Skin, Chicken Recipe, 30 Lb Bag is an excellent choice for pet owners looking to provide their dogs with a healthy and nutritious diet. The chicken recipe is tasty and easy to digest, and the formula is enriched with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to support overall health and wellbeing. I highly recommend this dog food to anyone looking for a high-quality and natural option for their furry friend.
I ended up being able to try Hills Science because of a coupon they had, and I'm so happy to have purchased it. Not only does my pug enjoy eating his food much more now, his skin issues have cleared up almost immediately. I'm going on my third large sized bag and will stick with this brand for the foreseeable future.
She takes a good 8 hours before she'll eat it. We might need to switch her back.
The food has a very strong "dog food" outdoor to it. I have to put it outside of she doesn't eat it right away.
The price is good and I love having it shipped directly to my house.
Revised: My dog is now eating it regularly and enjoys it. 4 stars. Will update to 5 if dog continues to enjoy without issues. I just felt misled with the product arriving with no knowledge of the change.
i was so frustrated at the process we had undergone to find the perfect food only for her to get a rash, I told him I was not feeding her HIS recommended Hills Science Diet. He looked at me and told me grain free dog foods are now being linked to canine heart disease! I took a bag of Hills Sensitive Stomach just to appease him as I pondered what I would do with the 50 pound bag of "bad" grain-free food I had just ordered!! I came home and did more research only to find our vet was our dogs best friend. The food i was using was very high quality, but was also on the list as one of the worst I could choose for heart disease. As I read in another post, TALK TO YOUR VET. TRUST YOUR VET! I had been told Science Diet paid vets to carry their product, and provided scholarships to vet students if they promoted their product. I still don't know if this is true but our dog is thriving, her coat is beautiful, she cannot get enough of this food, and her stools are perfectly solid and no longer runny. Bulldogs have their own set of problems and ours has not been the exception, but I literally am indebted to our vet for directing us to Science Diet. It will give us our dog for many years to come and hope others will try this before heart disease takes their furry friend.
Original review: Bought this to try for border collie/great pyrenees mix who sheds, gnaws at his paws, scratches and has sore ears. After one 30 lb bag he seems to be shedding less, biting his paws more and still scratching. I must say though that his coat looks brighter and shinier than ever. I really like the velcro-like bag closure and the material the bag is made of- maybe a plastic. Along with the above mentioned reasons for trying this food was to find an economical food; a 70+ lb dog goes through this 30 lb bag in 3weeks. Economical it is not. Also I would like to see an ingredient besides chicken as a choice in the sensitive recipe. I ordered one more bag to give it a chance to prove worth the price. We'll see.
Since it didn't help their itching, I'm going to go back to their regular dog food, since this one is a lot more expensive. Maybe I'll try some other hypoallergenic food.
I used the Hills Science Prescription Z/D for skin allergies, and it work O.K to begin to normalize her sikin., but it was overpriced considering the largest ingredient is CORN STARCH!!!
So this cheaper chow, without the hydrolyzed protein, was terrible for my highly allergy-prone dog.
Now on to kibble number 4, with hydrolyzed salmon, and no corn starch. Crossing my fingers.
chihuahua mix to the food as well and he loves it too! Our groomer even noticed a positive difference in their coat and skin! Also their poo doesnt smell as bad either and our house is now diarreah and vomit free! On a side note it did give them pretty bad gas for about a week but some no toot took care that and now the gas has subsided. Thank you Scinence Diet for saving our sweet girl and our sanity! Will be buying this food for life!
In all seriousness, this is a great dog food. My Siberian husky has suffered from terrible fits of vomiting and diarrhea since he was a puppy. Since I fortunately have connections with a lot of people in the veterinary field I was able to ask a lot of brilliant minds and after all the tests came up negative they all focused on his diet. Every veterinary told me to try either Hill's or Purina due to the extensive research behind their products.
AND BAM! We got solid stool, dancing at meal times, normal amounts of farting, a beautiful coat, and an overall healthy dog. My dog is extremely picky and he has yet to turn his head away from his food. The fact that he dances when he sees me put the food in the dish is pretty amazing. The smell in my opinion is actually pretty good from a human perspective if anyone actually cares about that. The kibble is round and a bit on the large side so I would suggest the mini version for any dogs with small mouths or under 30 pounds or so. They recently changed the formula so the first ingredient is chicken rather than brewers rice which is a nice bonus. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, vomits bile frequently, suffers from loose stool due to their diet, and/or has other GI issues that aren't related to other medical conditions then I would highly recommend this diet.
Since I've been using this product (close to a month now), my allergy dog no longer scratches herself all day and my little tooter dog no longer farts. I am literally amazed. We tried everything from Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo, Royal Canin, Nutrish, etc. and nothing has worked for out dogs but this product. I cannot even begin to say how thankful I am we tried this food.
While I understand all vets have different opinions, but vet advised my husband and I to steer clear of "grain-free" foods. This really surprised me, because I always thought that they would be healthier for my pups and would prolong their life. Apparently, this is not the case. Through extensive research, they are finding that these types of foods are actually limiting the life of pup's due to the higher fat contents, which in turn wears down their heart much quicker (apologies if I didn't explain this correctly; trying to parrot what my vet said).
Moving forward, I'll be using this product and would not hesitate to recommend it to other pet owners who experience the same issues with their pups as I do.
My wife and I have always believed in providing high quality dog foods to our pets, and this is no exception. Vets and animal specialists say to read the label and find out what's in your pet's food. Look at the ingredient list, as it will outline the food contents in order from what the food has most of to least of. This food is packed with quality nutrition and vitamins. When you feed your pet a higher quality food it will be reflected in their overall health, energy, shine in their coat, and digestion (less waste) as the food contains more quality nutrition their body retains and less will pass.
I would highly recommend Hills Science Diet Adult Sensitive Stomach and Skin for those looking for a quality food for pets with sensitivities. I rate this a perfect 5/5. Our dog (pictured below) constantly gets comments on his health and beauty of his coat. Thank you for reading and rating my comment!
[UPDATED] The next day Amazon overnighted me a new bag that wasn’t 3 years expired. I still continued to order this brand AND always from Amazon for the next 2 years of my Dogs life, and I never had this issue repeated again. I would still recommend Science Hill Dog Food, and still recommend the convenience of getting it from Amazon, BUT I highly suggest always checking the expiration date on the bag before giving it to your babies. =]
I really didn't know where to start with narrowing things down, and then someone suggested to try switching her food out - that's the easiest and least expensive thing to do. I know Science Diet is heralded a very good brand on the less expensive side of the "good dog foods" out there, so it was worth a shot. Before ordering, I called Amazon to see what their return/refund policy on foodstuffs was, in the event that my dog either didn't like the food or that it did not help with her allergies. Amazon customer service informed me that if I didn't like the product for any reason and I notified them within 30 days, they would refund the money and I would NOT have to return the food. Perfect!
I ordered it and immediately started transiting my dog to this food. When she finally got transitioned to the point where she was eating mostly the Science Diet (about a week and half after I received the food), the majority of the allergy symptoms that she was experiencing basically disappeared. To date (approximately 1 month later), she has completely stopped obsessively scratching as well as licking and biting her paws. Even her ears cleared up a lot, although they still require weekly/bi-weekly cleaning. I AM SO GLAD THIS FOOD WORKED FOR HER.
Additionally, I have found that this food is a lot more filling and she gets full at lot faster. She's not eating nearly as much (and thus not pooping as much), so I'm sure the food itself will last a lot longer!
On the downside, I don't think she really cares for the taste. In fact, she started going on a partial food strike earlier this week (she could never just completely stop eating). But I explained to her that this isn't Burger King and you cannot have it your way. I also told her that she wasn't getting anymore treats until she eats her food like she is supposed to. She is now back to eating her food regularly.
All in all, this food worked perfect for her! I can't say it will work for all dogs, but at least ordering from Amazon, you can get a refund if you find that it doesn't work.
I've been purchasing smaller bags locally but ordered this large bag which I will repackage into smaller vacuum sealed bags after opening it next week. The
Hill's Science Diet Adult Sensitive Stomach Dry Dog Food, 30-Pound Bag
is heavy and will last us for months since she's a small dog, but it's worth a little effort for me to save a substantial amount instead of replenishing the 4.5 pound bags. I've saved a couple of those empty bags because I like the velcro closure, and will use one to transfer a vacuum sealed bag at a time.
I've purchased smaller bites of food and found that Zhaba inhaled those without chewing. These are about the same size as the regular adult Science Diet food that came home with her when I adopted her last November. Because she has a tendency to play with her food before eating it, rewarding herself with every bite as she heartily crunches down. As with any food, she sometimes ignores a meal, but I find that at the end of the day, she usually consumes the little over a cup daily that she needs. Her digestion is smooth now, she's healthy, and she enjoys her meals.
EDIT: Just opened the bag and the nibble is larger. Ingredients are the same, the picture of size on the bag is the same. I called Hills and learned that this is a new formula and this is the new size. My dog isn't happy but she'll learn. Fortunately I opened the new bag while still having a pound of previous bag so I'm mixing both for transition.
