If are one of the very few people who have never used them, think flavored play-doh. So much easier than trying to wrap cheese or some other kind of human food around a pill to fool the dog. Once you use these, you'll be buying them pretty much for the rest of your pets life.
This was very disturbing! So, i needed help for my smart fur man. I know he loves chicken. Anytime we have fresh chicken in the house he gets so excited. So I ordered these chicken flavored, and they worked like a charm! No fight, no fuss, no delay ensuring or worry that he's actually eating them. He eats them right up and then wants more! But dont!
These are very high calorie, fats, and not healthy, so with exception to helping your fur baby get meds as needed, do not use in excess!! Use moderately!!!
Also, most of the "pockets" are deformed, so just wrap or form them around your pill to size and discretion. They are easily transformable. 😉
My vet used these in her office so I tried them and they are a God send! My one dog I have now requires phenobarbital for a seizure disorder so it's imperative she gets every dose. Luckily she is food motivated and loves the chicken or peanut butter flavored pockets. I just drop her pill in and then close it up into a little ball and she gobbles it right down. It is easy, no struggles, and gives me the added security knowing she is getting all her meds as ordered.
She loves these pill pockets and gets so excited when I grab the bag! It has literally been an absolute life saver!
Unfortunately the resealable zip doesn't hold up well, and usually ends up tearing away from the bag by the time I've used all 60 treats. Has been very annoying, but they stay fresh nonetheless

Lucky for us both, I found Greenies Chicken Flavored Pill Pockets and my troubles have been solved! Pill time is now pillafiffic thanks to these treats! The only problem at first was I didn’t know how to use them. Thank goodness there are directions on the back of the bag! It shows you to FILL… PINCH… and GIVE. Why, I was doing all wrong! Sometimes I would pinch THEN try and fill. Well that was quite the pickle! Other times I would GIVE Pedro the pocket and then stand there like a Silly Billie with a pill in my hand trying to figure out what went wrong. Anyway, I finally was able to work out these delicious chicken contraptions thanks to the directions on the back. If only my enema instructions were as clear!

I feel like they deserve 5-stars and I will keep buying regularly for sure. The only thing on my wish list is they come out with a Greenies pill pocket that is specifically low-sodium. With congestive heart failure, you have to be very careful about salt intake.
I actually emailed Greenies directly last night and told them about this idea, because I don't see anyone offering low-sodium pill pockets or treats. I got a kind email back today from Mars Petcare USA saying they'll look into it. They were very nice and have excellent customer service.
Besides being very palatable, the consistency of Greenies is also great. I've managed to use these to wrap tablets, powders, and liquid drops. If you struggle giving meds to your pet, this is the way to go. Btw, my cats like them as treats too. Would recommend!

I currently have two pups, and one needs meds right now. But the other gets a treat too. It’s the dog that DOESN’T take meds that turns them away, so it’s not the medication. It wasn’t the medication for my previous dog either, who I tried giving a Greenie’s to her as a treat because they’re soft and she was older.
I don’t know what it is, whether it’s the flavor, texture or what it does to them, but two of my pups gulped down the first one and never went back.
That said, my mini golden loves them, and always wants more than one. But then, she’ll eat anything. The ingredients seem healthy enough. Taking her meds is a breeze. I score this one highly because this is her favorite flavor, but I’m not discounting the fact that two of my three dogs turned them away.

When I received the Greenies Pill Pocket Peanut butter flavored Tablet Size. It comes with 30 pill pockets. At first, he looked at it and left it. I was like oh no. Then he came back and picked it up. Then dropped again. He returned and chomped it down. Mission accomplished. Now it will be so easy to get his pain meds down too. What is also neat I can use the pill pocket as a treat. So all I did was pop the pill in the pocket and pinched it shut.

They look perfectly shaped on the package, but in reality they are all dumped in a combined bag together, and are not rigid, so they are going to get deformed. I carefully took out every one and put them on the plate for the picture so you can see best how they are likely to arrive, before you start handling the bag a lot at home. At first you might think it bad if many are malformed. But then you realize it doesn't matter at all. Just use it like play-dough and mold it around the pill. In fact, I need far less than a whole one anyway, so I easily break them into pieces and mold back together as needed.
The bag has a zipper seal. But personally, we like to keep a little dish with a lid for convenient access that stays on our counter for his morning and evening pill, and only pull out the bag to refill the little dish. It seems more convenient in a small rigid container than opening & closing the bag each time. But it stays fresh in both places in the meanwhile.
That will seem slightly wet or oily on your hands, and appear more wet if they sat a lot longer in the closed bag. But they will dry out more in frequent use. But it does leave my palm a bit shiny, so I always have to wash my hands after. It doesn't smell strongly to a human, so there isn't a real odor to cause concerns if you are sensitive, but I wouldn't say they are odorless.
In the far distant, and wretched past - giving pills (capsules and tablets) to ones faithful friend and loyal companion was something to be feared and dreaded, by both parties involved. This was an activity to be greeted with the enthusiasm that accompanies toe-nail trimming day (Another great idea out there waiting to happen, someone please find a way to remove the terror of toenail clipping time from the hearts of both man and beast.). One takes the pill or capsule, places it in the cavity of the Pill Pocket, then squishes the Pill Pocket closed, into the desired shape for the canine in question. By this point in time, your friendly canine has picked-up on the tantalizing aroma of the Pill Pockets, and is probably quivering., shaking, possibly offering to shake hands or to lie down........anything that will enable the Pill Pocket to be quickly introduced into the gaping maw of the pet in question.
What a relief, no more chasing the pet down, cornering the terrified animal, wrenching its jaws open with brute force, and somehow (Hopefully.) jamming the pill far enough down the throat of the violently resisting pet in order to clamp its jaws shut again, massaging its throat all the while (And somehow managing to keep a firm hold on the pet through all of these machinations.), and hoping with all ones heart the the pill has actually been swallowed, instead of being cleverly concealed in the corner of said pets mouth, only to be violently ejected as one releases the beloved fur kid, and watches the rear portion of the pets anatomy as it rapidly, and with great agility disappears to places unknown......this causing a repeat of the entire wretched, and disheartening procedure..
Well, those days are over. Pet owners everywhere can rejoice in their new lives of ease and happiness, while at the same time not being subjected to the reproachful and betrayed glances of their beloved fur kids. Just place the pill in the pocket, hand it to your happy and panting buddy, and the job is done. Everyone is happy, your best friend has just enjoyed a delightful snack, and is probably begging for more, and the pet's human is enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, and the lack of bitten and mangled hands and fingers that were the inevitable, and unavoidable result of the other positively medieval manner of pet medicating, in days gone past.
I maimtain a ready supply of of both styles of Pill Pockets at all times. When the package begins to run low. I immediately dash to my trusty computer and order more, via Amazon Prime. The brilliant geniuses at Greenies are to be commended, upon bended knee for their dream of an invention, which maintains tranquility in the hearts of both man and beast.
These Pill.Pockets are best stored inside of their closed bag, which is then placed inside of another zipper plastic bag, this ensures that the Pockets maintain their pliability, and the aroma so pleasing to the olfactory senses of canines everywhere.
